1/25/2023 Rep. Casimiro honored by Rhode Island Society of Health System Pharmacists
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) was honored by the Rhode Island Society of Health System Pharmacists at the organization’s 53rd Annual Installation & Awards Dinner on January 21.
           
Representative Casimiro was recognized with the group’s 2022 Friend of Pharmacy Award for her advocacy relating to legislation she introduced last session that would reform the pharmacist licensing process.
           
“I am truly grateful to receive this tremendous honor from an organization and its members who were on the front lines protecting and treating our state’s residents during the difficult and uncertain past few years.  Without our state’s pharmacists, our citizens would be far worse off and I look forward to continue working with them to ensure Rhode Islanders remain healthy and have access to the vital medications needed to preserve their health,” said Representative Casimiro.
           
House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) was Representative Casimiro’s guest at the event and he thanked the organization’s members for keeping Rhode Islanders healthy and in particular, Speaker Shekarchi expressed gratitude for the help and support pharmacists provided during the pandemic.
           
Representative Casimiro has reintroduced the bill (2023-H 5191) in the House and the legislation has been referred to the Finance Committee.
           
The mission of the Rhode Island Society of Health System Pharmacists is to advance the professional interests of its membership and work toward optimized patient-centered care through the promotion, support, and advocacy of safe, effective and timely pharmacy services.
