10/14/2022 Rep. Marszalkowski secures traffic study for dangerous intersection in Cumberland
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Alex D. Marszalkowski (D-Dist. 52, Cumberland) has secured a state traffic study for the dangerous intersection located at Diamond Hill Road and Pine Swamp Road in Cumberland.

Representative Marszalkowski, working in conjunction with Cumberland town officials, wrote to the state requesting the traffic study after a particularly serious accident between a car and a bicycle recently happened at the intersection.

“Simply put, there are too many severe accidents happening at this extremely busy intersection and the danger threatening Cumberland’s residents and visitors is too great to ignore.  My hope is that this traffic study will result in several safety improvements to this intersection, protecting all who pass through this high-use roadway.  I thank Cumberland officials for assisting me in this request and RIDOT for taking the town’s concerns seriously.  Together, I am confident we can make the intersection of Diamond Hill Road and Pine Swamp Road far safer than it has been for many years,” said Representative Marszalkowski.

Representative Marszalkowski will continue to update the residents of Cumberland on the status of the traffic study and any safety recommendations that are made by RIDOT.  He notes that he will not rest until the intersection is safe for all motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.
