7/7/2022 Rep. Slater highlights $12 million bond in budget for Roger Williams Zoo education center
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Scott A. Slater, First Vice Chair of the House Finance Committee, is highlighting the $12 million bond included in the FY 2023 state budget that if approved by the voters, will lead to the construction of a state-of-the-art education center at the Roger Williams Park Zoo.

“The Roger Williams Park Zoo has held a special place in my heart ever since I was a little boy and I am extremely grateful that newer generations will learn and build their own memories as they walk the impressive grounds, marveling at all of the beautiful and diverse animals.  The zoo is truly one of our state’s best assets and this new education center will only add more value to this incredible Rhode Island institution’s 150 years of service to the community,” said Representative Slater (D-Dist. 10, Providence).

Question 3 on the November election ballot will ask voters to approve a bond valued at $12 million to construct a new education center at the Roger Williams Park and Zoo.  Representative Slater originally introduced the legislation (2022-H 8134) that was included in the state budget.

As the First Vice Chair of the House Finance Committee, Representative Slater has significant input in the budget writing process and he strongly advocated for the education center bond question to be included in the recently approved budget.
