6/7/2022 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Judiciary Committee meets on Thursday to vote on firearm legislation
STATE HOUSE – The House Judiciary Committee will be meeting on Thursday, June 9 at 3 p.m. in Room 101 of the State House to vote on three bills relating to firearms.

The committee will be considering the following bills:
  • 2022-H 6614A, sponsored by Rep. Justine A. Caldwell (D-Dist. 30, East Greenwich, West Greenwich), would make it a felony for an individual to possess any semi-automatic firearm magazine which is capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
  • 2022-H 7358A, sponsored by Rep. Leonela Felix (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket), would make it unlawful to possess a loaded rifle or shotgun in public, subject to various exceptions inclusive of hunting activity.
  • 2022-H 7457, sponsored by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, Narragansett, South Kingstown), would increase the age from 18 to 21 years for the lawful sale of firearms or ammunition.
The meeting will be televised live on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox on Channels 15 and 61, on i3Broadband on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers.  The meeting will also be live streamed at http://rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx.
