6/6/2022 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets on Tuesday to vote on legislation
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, June 7 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House to vote on several bills.

Among the legislation being voted on by the committee are the following bills:
  • 2022-H 7068, sponsored by Rep. Kathleen A. Fogarty (D-Dist. 35, South Kingstown), requires the RI Department of Human Services to develop a plan to streamline the application, certification and recertification process for SNAP beneficiaries aged 60 years and over.
  • 2022-S 2371, sponsored by Sen. V. Susan Sosnowski (D-Dist. 37, South Kingstown, New Shoreham), also requires the RI Department of Human Services to develop a plan to streamline the application, certification and recertification process for SNAP beneficiaries aged 60 years and over.
  • 2022-H 7488A, sponsored by Rep. Gregg Amore (D-Dist. 65, East Providence), requires school lunch service contracts to provide for payment to school-lunch workers and aides for 180 days or the length of the contract for the school year, whichever is longer.
  • 2022-H 7645, sponsored by Rep. Charlene M. Lima (D-Dist. 15, Cranston, Providence), exempts retired police officers from the 75 day rule which restricts employment for retirement purposes, when they work private details for a nongovernmental entity.

The meetings will be televised live on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox on Channels 15 and 61, on i3Broadband on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers.
