5/23/2022 Senate committee to vote on health insurance bills tomorrow
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee has scheduled votes on several bills tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24, at the rise of the Senate session in Room 211 on the second floor of the State House.

Among the bills scheduled for votes are:
  • 2022-S 2072 — Sponsored by Sen. Alana M. DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown), this bill would require the health insurance commissioner to adopt a uniform set of medical criteria for prior authorization and create a required form to be used by health insurers.
  • 2022-S 2327 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Dawn Euer (D-Dist. 13, Newport, Jamestown) would require every individual or group health insurance contract effective on or after Jan. 1, 2023, to provide coverage to the insured and the insured’s spouse and dependents for all FDA-approved contraceptive drugs, devices and other products.
  • 2022-S 2469 — Sponsored by Senate Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Joshua Miller (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Providence), this bill would direct the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to submit a Medicaid state plan amendment for the purposes of establishing certified community behavioral health clinics.
  • 2022-S 2476 — Also sponsored by Chairman Miller, this bill would require health insurers, nonprofit hospital service corporations, nonprofit medical service corporations, health maintenance organizations and Rhode Island Medicaid to issue policies that provide coverage for emergency medical services transport to alternate facilities, and cover emergency medical services for mental health and substance use disorder treatment, on or after Jan. 1, 2023.
