MEDIA ADVISORY: Sen. Mack’s inclusive sexual education bill to be heard by Education Committee today

STATE HOUSE – Sen. Tiara Mack’s (D-Dist. 6, Providence) legislation which requires courses in family life or sex education be taught in grades 6 through 12 and be appropriate for students of all races, genders, sexual orientations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds will be heard by the Senate Education Committee today, April 27 at 4:30 p.m. in the Senate Lounge in the State House.
The legislation further calls for the course to include affirmatively recognize pleasure based sexual relations, different sexual orientations and be inclusive of same-sex relationships in discussions and examples. In addition, comprehensive course instruction shall include gender, gender expression, gender identity, and the harm of negative gender stereotypes.
