MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate Finance Committee to hear budget testimony on Department of Labor and Training
|
STATE HOUSE — The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to meet twice this week to hear testimony on the proposed state budget, particularly related to the Department of Labor and training and to hear legislation related to human services.
The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 26, at the rise of the Senate (about 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House.
Members will hear testimony on budget proposals under the American Rescue Plan Act related to the Department of Labor and Training, specifically Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund contribution, aid to the convention center, nonprofit assistance, and the auto-enrollment program at Health Source RI.
The committee will also meet Thursday, April 28, at 4 p.m. in the Senate Lounge to hear testimony on several bills relating to human services, including:

2022-S 2200 — this bill, introduced by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Newport, Tiverton, Little Compton), would provide for rate setting and review for all medical programs licensed or having a contract with the state as well as Medicaid.

2022-S 2306 — this bill, introduced by Sen. Walter S. Felag Jr. (D-Dist. 10, Bristol, Tiverton, Warren), would provide Medicaid home care base rate adjustments.

2022-S 2311 — this bill, introduced by Senator DiPalma, would require the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to be assisted by a 24-member advisory committee to provide review/recommendations for rate setting/ongoing review of social service programs licensed by state departments/agencies and Medicaid.

2022-S 2546 — this bill, introduced by Sen. Bridget Valverde (D-Dist. 35, East Greenwich, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Narragansett), would direct the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to increase Medicaid rates for the Early Intervention and First Connections programs allowing for payment of competitive wages for qualified professionals.

2022-S 2597 — this bill, introduced by Sen. Sandra Cano (D-Dist. 8, Pawtucket), would establish the Katie Beckett Program pursuant to federal guidelines.
