3/31/2022 Rep. Slater introduces resolution celebrating 150th birthday of Roger Williams Park Zoo
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Scott A. Slater (D-Dist. 10, Providence) today introduced a House resolution (2022-H 8071) commemorating the 150th birthday of the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence.

“The Roger Williams Park Zoo has held a special place in my heart ever since I was a little boy and I am extremely grateful that I get to share these memories, and build new ones, with my own children as we walk the impressive grounds, marveling at all of the beautiful and diverse animals.  The zoo is truly one of our state’s best assets and it’s incredible that it has not only survived, but thrived over its 150 years of operation.  Happy birthday to the Roger Williams Park Zoo and here is to another 150 years of happy memories,” said Representative Slater.

The resolution will be placed in a time capsule that will be buried beneath the beloved “The Sentinel Dog” statue at a ceremony to be held on Friday, April 1.  The zoo is also running several special promotions this weekend to celebrate the anniversary, including free admission for Providence residents on Saturday, April 2 and $1.50 admission on Sunday, April 3, which requires buying tickets in advance online here.
