3/3/2022 House passed Hull resolution condemning Ukraine invasion; hosted RI Ukrainian clergy in solidarity
STATE HOUSE – During Tuesday’s session, the House of Representatives passed a resolution (2022-H 7592) sponsored by Rep. Raymond A. Hull (D-Dist. 6, Providence, North Providence) which condemns the illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia and supports the Rhode Island Ukrainian-American community in this time of great crisis.

Representative Hull is the chairman of the House Municipal Government and Housing Committee.  He is also the chairman of the Martin Luther King Jr. State Holiday Commission.

“We are more than wars.  We are about compromise, dialogue and understanding.  This war, and every war, is about our children, about someone else’s child, or someone’s mother or father trapped in a scenario to defend themselves against the senseless aggression of those without the ability to understand the life and experiences of someone else.  I won’t be long, but it needs to be said, wars are no good, and for the people of Ukraine, my colleagues and I stand here with you to condemn the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine,” said Representative Hull.

The House of Representatives also placed sunflowers on the rostrum to signify support for the Ukrainian people.  The sunflower is the official national flower of Ukraine.

On Thursday, the House of Representatives welcomed Father Boris Kroner of St Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Woonsocket and Father Michael Dosyak of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Woonsocket to the House Chamber.  Both Father Kroner and Father Dosyak delivered the daily invocation to the House of Representatives at the beginning of the session while standing under the Ukrainian flag hanging proudly above the rostrum.
