11/17/2021 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Oversight Subcommittee on Aging and Senior Services to hear from senior center directors
STATE HOUSE — The Subcommittee on Aging and Senior Services for the House Oversight Committee is scheduled to meet Thursday to hear an update from the state’s senior center directors on the issues they face.

The committee will meet Thursday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House.

The senior center directors will discuss their work, including what they provide, how they respond to the needs of the communities they serve, how the COVID pandemic affected their work and members, and what they see as challenges ahead in serving a growing older population.

Those scheduled to testify include Bob Robillard, president of Rhode Island Senior Center Directors Association and director of Coventry Resource and Senior Center; John DeLuca, director of the DaVinci Center in Providence; Carmella Geer, director of the Edward King Senior Center in Newport; Meg Underwood, director of Warwick Senior Services; and Dina Elhew, director of Scituate Senior Services.

The Subcommittee on Aging and Senior Services is chaired by Rep. Susan Donovan (D-Dist. 69, Bristol).

The meeting will be televised on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox Channels 15, and 61, in high definition on Cox Channel 1061, on Full Channel on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers. It will also be live streamed at http://rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx.
