9/30/2021 MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate and House Oversight Committees to meet next week on bidding and procurement process concerns
STATE HOUSE – Both the Senate Rules, Government Ethics and Oversight Committee and the House Oversight Committee will be meeting next week to examine state contract bidding and procurement process concerns.

The Senate Oversight Committee, chaired by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton), will meet on Tuesday, October 5 at 4 p.m. in Room 313 of the State House.

The committee will hear a review of Rhode Island’s procurement process and purchasing conditions.  They will also review RFP21000563: K-12 School and Higher Education Reopening Plan Consulting Services.  The committee has invited the following witnesses to testify:
  • James Thorsen, Director, Rhode Island Department of Administration
  • Nancy McIntyre, Purchasing Agent, Rhode Island Department of Administration
  • Daniel Majcher, Esq., Assistant Director, Special Projects, Rhode Island Department of Administration
Public comment will be accepted at the meeting.

The House Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. Patricia A. Serpa (D-Dist. 27, West Warwick, Coventry, Warwick), will meet on Wednesday, October 6 at 4 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House.

The committee will review the procurement of MPA 598 K-12 School and Higher Education Reopening Plan Consulting Services.  James Thorsen, Director of the RI Department of Administration, and Daniel Majcher, Esq., Assistant Director of Special Projects at the RI Department of Administration will testify before the committee.  Public comment will also be taken at the meeting.

The meetings will air live on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox Channels 15 and 61, on Full Channel on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers. The meetings will also be live streamed at http://rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx.
