2/5/2021 Rep. Azzinaro reappointed as chairman of House Veterans’ Affairs Committee
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Samuel A. Azzinaro (D-Dist. 37, Westerly) has been reappointed by House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) as the chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.  Chairman Azzinaro is also a member of the House Health and Human Services, Rules, and Special Legislation Committees.

“Protecting, supporting, and helping our veterans has been a cause that is very dear to my heart since I entered politics and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this work as the chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.  I thank Speaker Shekarchi for his vote of confidence and I am eager to provide and deliver meaningful results for our veterans who have been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic like everyone else,” said Chairman Azzinaro.

First elected in November of 2008, Chairman Azzinaro served in the National Guard for four years, and was a member of the Army Reserve for four years. Chairman Azzinaro also previously served for 12 years on the Westerly Town Council, including four years as its President.
