2/1/2021 Rep. Fellela named Senior Deputy Majority Leader
STATE HOUSE — Rep. Deborah A. Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston) has been named Senior Deputy Majority Leader by Speaker of the House K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick).

In her new role, Representative Fellela will work with the Leadership Team on the legislative process and will coordinate meetings with the Deputy Majority Leaders. She will also run the newly-created first-term Legislator Mentorship Program that will connect incoming legislators with more experienced members.

“I am thrilled to be chosen for this responsibility and to lead the mentorship program,” said Representative Fellela. “With COVID-19 and a difficult economy, this will be a challenging session for the General Assembly. I look forward to facing those challenges together with my talented colleagues.”

In addition to her new position, Representative Fellela has been appointed second vice chairwoman of the House Committee on Conduct. She was also appointed to serve on the Committee on Labor, the Committee on Oversight, and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.

“Deb brings great experience and familiarity with the legislative process to her new role and will be an important resource in managing the floor and assisting our colleagues,” said Speaker Shekarchi.
