6/19/2019 Senator Sheehan secures legislative grant for North Kingstown Land Conservancy
STATE HOUSE — Sen. James C. Sheehan (D-Dist. 36, North Kingstown, Narragansett) has presented a $1,200 legislative grant to the Land Conservancy of North Kingstown. The grant money will be used to assist in funding the Mill Cove causeway and footbridge project.

“The Land Conservancy works tirelessly to preserve the open spaces, abundant wildlife and natural beauty of North Kingstown,” said Senator Sheehan. “I’m proud to offer some assistance in preserving a trail that is utilized by so many members of the community.”

The Mill Cove causeway was built in 1770 by the original farming families of Wickford. Now owned by the town, it connects Wilson Park athletic fields and playground with two housing areas, trails and a launching ramp to Wickford Village.

The Land Conservancy of North Kingstown is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt organization working to protect the wetlands, woodlands, wildlife, trails, and open spaces of North Kingstown. Their mission is to preserve the natural and scenic character of the community for present and future generations.
