4/6/2017 Leaders Against Litter Coming to Rhode Island State House To Celebrate Earth Day

STATE HOUSE  --  Representative Brian C. Newberry (R-District 48 North Smithfield, Burrillville) will welcome “Leaders Against Litter” from Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful on April 11th – April 13th

Volunteers will set up a table outside the doors of the House chamber, before session, to educate state leaders and the public about the environmental hazards of litter.  This comes in celebration of Earth Day, which falls on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017.

Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful serves as the environmental education arm of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council; a council that has been the leader in transforming Rhode Island’s Blackstone Valley into an internationally recognized visitor destination.

Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful is an affiliate of the national non-profit, Keep America Beautiful, and supports their missions of preventing litter, reducing waste and beautifying communities. KBVB brings this message locally to the municipalities of Burrillville, Central Falls, Cumberland, Glocester, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Pawtucket, Smithfield and Woonsocket.

“It’s a great reminder for all of us to do everything we can to prevent pollution in our communities, to help keep our state beautiful,” said Representative Newberry.

Donna Kaehler of Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful said, “Together we hope to unite all Rhode Island citizens, businesses, governments and state leaders to share this belief.  We are excited to say, our state leaders are showing their support and help by making others aware.  Our goal is to encourage those living or visiting our area, to understand their environmental impact, and assist today and every day by not littering this beautiful state we call home.“
