1/12/2017 Rep. Fellela appointed deputy majority leader, receives committee assignments
STATE HOUSE — Speaker of the House Nicholas A. Mattiello (D-Dist. 15, Cranston) has appointed Rep. Deborah A. Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston) to serve as a deputy majority leader in the House of Representatives for the 2017-18 legislative session.

“I am truly honored to serve in this House leadership position,” said Representative Fellela. “We have a lot of hard work ahead of us in addressing our priorities, such as the phasing out of the auto excise tax. I look forward to tackling this issue and others for the people of Rhode Island, especially my constituents in Johnston.”

In addition, Representative Fellela was also appointed to serve as second vice chairwoman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and as a member of the Labor and Small Business committees.

The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs handles all legislation impacting the lives of Rhode Island veterans and those currently in military service.

The House Labor Committee deliberates legislation relating to workers’ compensation and labor laws.

The Small Business Committee reviews legislation relating to the streamlining of licenses and permits, eliminating or decreasing bureaucratic steps and delays and uncoordinated or duplicative reviews and filings, and reducing associated added costs to businesses.

Representative Fellela was first elected to the House of Representatives in November 2006.
