Rep. Christopher T. Millea (D-Dist. 16, Cranston) was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018. He is a member of the House Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Labor, the House Committee on Conduct, the House Committee on Special Legislation and the House Committee on Rules.
During his first term in the legislature, Representative Millea sponsored legislation, signed into law, which states that no person may use wireless handset or personal wireless device for texting while driving. He also sponsored legislation that limits public school kindergarten through grade two class size to twenty students.
He sponsored a successful bill to crack down on texting and driving. A bill he co-sponsored became law to create a diversionary program in Superior Court requiring supervision and services instead of prison for certain offenses.
Representative Millea is a self-employed attorney. He graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy in 1990 and he received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Providence College in 1994. He received his juris doctorate degree from Roger Williams University School of Law in 1997.
He is a member of the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also an official for the American Hockey League and Hockey East. Representative Millea is a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston.
Representative Millea was born on February 11, 1972 and he resides in Cranston with his wife Ellen-Jude and their two daughters, Katie and Kennedy.
