Representative Robert B. Jacquard

 Robert B. Jacquard (D) represents District 17, Cranston. First elected in November 1992, he chairs the House Committee on Corporations and is a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and the House Committee on Conduct.

During the 2019 legislative session, Chairman Jacquard saw several bills he sponsored become law, including legislation that allows the creation of a Superior Court diversion program.  He also sponsored a bill which requires that all electrical work performed in the state be done in accordance with the latest edition of the National Electrical Code, and would also require that the state building commission adopt the latest edition of the National Electrical Code.
In 2018, Representative Jacquard sponsored successful legislation that requires all electrical work in Rhode Island to be in accordance with the latest edition of the National Electric Code. He also sponsored legislation that provides consumer protections in eye care services by developing regulations and standards for online eye care services.
He was previously involved in the CLCF youth sports organization in Cranston and the Southern Rhode Island Youth Hockey Association.
Representative Jacquard, a retired police sergeant, is a self-employed attorney. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University School of Law in 1998. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Roger Williams University in 1984 and received his Master's degree in Administration of Justice/Homeland Security from Salve Regina University in 2013. He is a 1976 graduate of La Salle Academy.
Representative Jacquard was born on May 18, 1958. He is married to Kathleen (Murphy) and they have one child, Kathryn.
