Senator Michael J. McCaffrey

Senator Michael J. McCaffrey (Democrat - District 29, Warwick) was born on
December 18, 1963. He is married to Deirdre and has four children: Michael,
Cailin, Brenna, and Deirdre.
A 1981 graduate of Bishop Hendrick High School, Senator McCaffrey went on to
earn a B.S. from Providence College in 1985 and a J.D. from Suffolk University
Law School in 1989.
A practicing attorney, Senator McCaffrey is a member of both the Rhode Island
and the District of Columbia Bar Associations and has previously served as a
Grand Knight for the Warwick Knights of Columbus.
Senator McCaffrey was first elected to the Rhode Island Senate in 1994. He
served as chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary from 2003 until 2017
when he was elected Majority Leader.
