3/20/2023 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Subcommittees meet five times this week to continue hearing department budgets
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Subcommittees will meet this week to continue hearing testimony on department budgets from the FY 2024 (2023-H 5200) budget and the FY 2023 (2023-H 5199) supplemental budget.

On Tuesday, March 21 at 3 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House, the Subcommittee on Education, chaired by Rep. Scott A. Slater (D-Dist. 10, Providence), will hear testimony on the Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission and the RI State Council on the Arts.

Also, on Tuesday, March 21 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the Subcommittee on Human Services, chaired by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, Narragansett, South Kingstown), will hear testimony on the Office of Veteran Services, the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, and the Office of the Mental Health Advocate.

On Wednesday, March 22 at 4 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House, the Subcommittee on General Government, chaired by Rep. Alex D. Marszalkowski (D-Dist. 52, Cumberland), will hear testimony on the Department of Labor and Training, the Executive Office of Commerce, and the Department of Housing.

On Thursday, March 23 at the 3 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House, the Subcommittee on General Government will hear testimony on the Department of Revenue.

Also, on Thursday, March 23 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the Subcommittee on Education will hear testimony on Public Higher Education, including the Office of Postsecondary Commissioner, the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island.  The subcommittee will also hear testimony on the Atomic Energy Commission.

All the meetings will be televised live by Capitol Television, which can be seen by Cox Communications subscribers on channels 15 and 61 for high definition, on channel 15 by i3Broadband viewers, and channel 34 for Verizon subscribers.
