9/22/2021 MEDIA ADVISORY: Redistricting Commission to meet Thursday to discuss law, software, plan future meetings
STATE HOUSE – The Special Commission on Reapportionment will meet Thursday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House to hear a presentation on redistricting law and an introduction to district mapping software.

H. Reed Witherby of Smith Duggan Buell & Rufo is scheduled to give an overview on redistricting law and Kimball Brace of Election Data Services Inc. is scheduled to give an introduction on redistricting mapping software.

The Commission is also expected to announce its meeting schedule and locations for October. The state constitution calls for the General Assembly to reapportion its districts as well as the two congressional districts after each 10-year federal census.

The commission is chaired by Rep. Robert D. Phillips (D-Dist. 51, Woonsocket, Cumberland) and Sen. Stephen R. Archambault (D-Dist. 22, Smithfield, North Providence, Johnston).
