9/9/2021 Rep. Casimiro named 2021 Angels in Adoption Honoree
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) has been chosen as a 2021 Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) Angels in Adoption Honoree.  Congressman James Langevin nominated Representative Casimiro to recognize her work in the adoption, foster care and child welfare community.

“This recognition is a tremendous honor and I thank Congressman Langevin and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute for all of their efforts and dedication to helping our country’s vulnerable youth.  Our society will only successfully continue if we care for, support and nurture our children and this is even more important for our kids who have had much harder lives than most.  Thankfully, there are organizations like CCAI that know this sobering fact and I am eager to continue working with them in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for all of our children,” said Representative Casimiro.

Just this year, Representative Casimiro was named the chairperson of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Children and Families.  In addition to her work on the committee, she also saw legislation she sponsored that tracks the academic performance of foster care youth, and another bill that bans child marriages in Rhode Island, become law.

Founded in 2001, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about the millions of children around the world in need of safe and nurturing families and to eliminating the barriers that hinder these children from realizing their basic right to a family. The creation of CCAI sought to match the commitment of Members of Congress' Adoption Caucus, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, with the information and resources needed to make the dream of a family a reality for every child.
