6/21/2021 Media Advisory: Environmental bills, appointments slated for committee votes
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Environment and Agriculture Committee has scheduled votes on several environmental measures as well as appointments to several state panels Wednesday.

The meeting is scheduled to take place virtually Wednesday, June 23, at 4 p.m. via WebEx. It will be streamed live by Capitol Television at http://www.rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx.

Among the bills scheduled for votes are:
  • 2021-S 0035 — Sponsored by Sen. Ryan W. Pearson (D-Dist. 19, Cumberland, Lincoln), this bill establishes the Ocean State Climate Adaptation and Resilience Fund to enable municipalities and the state to apply for grants to improve public safety and community climate resilience for coastal habitats, as well as river and stream floodplains.
  • 2021-S 0357 — This bill sponsored by Sen. V. Susan Sosnowski (D-Dist. 37, South Kingstown, New Shoreham) would phase in significantly higher percentages of cleaner-burning biodiesel in home heating oil sold in the state.
  • 2021-S 0874 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Ana B. Quezada (D-Dist. 2, Providence) would require all contractors and subcontractors who perform construction, alteration, demolition, installation, repair or maintenance work on public projects to comply with industry standards for infrastructure corrosion prevention.
The State House remains closed to in-person testimony. Written testimony is encouraged and must be mailed to slegislation@rilegislature.gov by 2 p.m. Wednesday to be provided to the committee and be included in the meeting records. Requests to provide verbal testimony must be submitted by 4 p.m. tomorrow at this link.
