6/21/2021 Media Advisory: Health care bills scheduled for committee votes tomorrow
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee has scheduled votes tomorrow on several health care measures.

The meeting is scheduled to take place virtually tomorrow, Tuesday, June 22, at 3 p.m. via WebEx. It will be streamed live by Capitol Television at http://www.rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx.

Among the bills scheduled for votes are:
  • 2021-S 0381 — This bill sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Michael J. McCaffrey (D-Dist. 29, Warwick) would prohibit  annual or lifetime dollar limit on drug benefits by insurers.
  • 2021-S 0494 — Sponsored by Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence), this bill would require pharmaceutical drug manufacturers, pharmacy benefit managers, health insurers, and hospitals to disclose certain drug pricing information to help payers determine whether high prescription costs are justified. This bill is part of the Senate’s prescription drug affordability legislative package.
  • 2021-S 0495 — Sponsored by Senate Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Joshua Miller (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Providence), this bill would boost participation in the state’s health information exchange, known as CurrentCare, by making it an “opt-out” system rather than one that requires every patient to take action in order to participate.
