MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate Committee on Environment and Agriculture to vote on polystyrene foam ban

STATE HOUSE – The Senate Committee on Environment and Agriculture is scheduled to meet this Wednesday, May 17, at 4 p.m. in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House. The committee will consider two bills:

2023-S 0014 — This bill, introduced by Sen. Joshua Miller (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Providence), would prohibit covered establishments from preparing, selling, processing or providing food or beverages in or on a disposable food service container that is composed in whole or in part of polystyrene foam, commonly called Styrofoam.

2023-S 0062 — This bill, introduced by Sen. Pamela J. Lauria (D-Dist. 32, Barrington, Bristol, East Providence), would add climate change, sea-level rise and coastal resiliency to the analysis of data of the strategic plan for economic development policy.
The committee will also hear eight other bills and provide advice and consent on four candidates for the Rabies Control Board.
