3/15/2023 Media Advisory: Committee to hear bills concerning seniors’ health needs
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow for hearings on several bills concerning older adults.

The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Thursday, March 16, at 5 p.m. in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House.

Among the bills scheduled for hearings are:
  • 2023-S 0100 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Walter S. Felag Jr. (D-Dist. 10, Warren, Bristol, Tiverton) would establish home care nursing assistants, licensed by the Department of Health, to work exclusively in-home care.
  • 2023-S 0571 — Sponsored by Sen. Matthew L. LaMountain (D-Dist. 31, Warwick, Cranston), this bill would increase the monthly personal needs allowances of nursing home facility residents from $50 to $100.
  • 2023-S 0583 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Valarie J. Lawson (D-Dist. 14, East Providence) provides all Medicare recipients over age 65 applying for a Medicare supplement plan guaranteed issue rights regardless of their medical needs or health or receipt of health care.
