1/23/2019 Rep. Noret receives committee assignments
STATE HOUSE — Speaker of the House Nicholas A. Mattiello (D-Dist. 15, Cranston) has appointed Rep. Thomas E. Noret (D-Dist. 25, Coventry, West Warwick) to serve on the House Oversight, Judiciary, Labor, and Special Legislation committees for the 2019-20 legislative session.

The Oversight Committee reviews the operation and efficiency of various state departments and agencies, fulfilling the legislature’s oversight role under separation of powers.

The Judiciary Committee considers all bills affecting the penal code, judicial system, ethics, open meetings, access to public records and election laws. The House Labor Committee deliberates legislation relating to workers’ compensation and labor laws. The House Committee on Special Legislation handles all bills pertaining to constitutional amendments, commissions, resolutions and issues that do not fall within the purview of other standing committees.

Representative Noret is serving his first term in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, having been elected in November and sworn in on Jan. 1.
