House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan Receives American Conservative Union Foundation Conservative Achievement Award Honors Commitment to core principles written in the US Constitution

House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan has received the Award of Conservative Achievement from the American Conservative Union Foundation. Leader Morgan received a rating of 88%, which signifies a voting record consistent with “the ideals articulated in the U.S. Constitution: limited and transparent government, individual rights, personal responsibility, and lasting cultural values’.
The American Conservative Union Foundation works to help people understand what conservatism is and how it will improve their lives. It scores legislators on legislation dealing with fiscal and economic issues, such as taxes, budgets, regulation and property rights, social and cultural topics such as, the 2nd Amendment, life, welfare and education, and government integrity, including voting, individual liberty, privacy and transparency.
Key votes that were scored included the vote against a fiscally irresponsible $9.6 billion budget that included additional taxes, a vote to abolish the car tax, and a vote against the Governor’s free tuition plan among others.
“I am gratified to receive this prestigious award from the ACU. I believe that our conservative principles will help everyday Rhode Islanders live better lives. I want them to keep more of their money to spend on their priorities. Government must stop finding more ways to squeeze additional money out of their wallets. Free markets, personal freedom and responsibility have made our country a beacon across the world. My voting record demonstrates my belief in those principles” stated Morgan.
