6/20/2022 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Judiciary Committee meets on Tuesday to vote on several bills
STATE HOUSE – The House Judiciary Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, June 21 at 3:30 p.m. in the House Lounge of the State House to vote on several bills.

Among the legislation being considered by the committee are the following bills:
  • 2022-H 8246, sponsored by House Majority Whip Katherine S. Kazarian (D-Dist. 63, East Providence), permits retired district court clerk/magistrates or magistrates to be recalled after retirement.
  • 2022-H 7939A, sponsored by Rep. Karen Alzate (D-Dist. 60, Pawtucket), would allow the division of motor vehicles to issue driving privilege cards and driving privilege permits, to applicants unable to establish their lawful presence in the United States.
  • 2022-H 7354A, sponsored by Rep. Leonela Felix (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket), provides for the sealing of court records without motion and by operation of law 30 days after acquittal or exoneration of all counts in a criminal case.
  • 2022-H 8247A, sponsored by Rep. Joseph J. Solomon, Jr. (D-Dist. 22, Warwick), reduces the civil penalty for the first and second offenses for driving without a license or driving with a suspended license, and would make a third violation a civil offense and a fourth offense a misdemeanor punishable by a fine.
The meeting will be televised live on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox on Channels 15 and 61, on i3Broadband on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers.  The meeting will also be live streamed at http://rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx.
