5/10/2022 Rep. O’Brien supports proposal to fully eliminate the car tax this year
STATE HOUSE – Rep. William W. O’Brien (D-Dist. 54, North Providence) is supporting Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio’s (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence) proposal to fully eliminate the car tax this year.  Currently, the phase-out of the car tax was scheduled to end next year.

“With everyday costs rising rapidly, particularly at the gas pump, Rhode Islanders are pleading for relief.  And with recently revised revenue projections having Rhode Island awash in surplus funds, I believe that fully eliminating the car tax in the upcoming state budget would help every single working class family in Rhode Island.  As a member of the House Finance Committee, I will be advocating for the full car tax phase-out to be included in this year’s state budget in order to deliver the financial relief that our residents deserve,” said Representative O’Brien.
