4/11/2022 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets twice this week to hear a variety of legislation
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will be meeting twice this week to hear testimony on a variety of other legislation.

On Tuesday, April 12 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the committee will be meeting to hear testimony on several bills.
Among the legislation being heard are the following bills:
  • 2022-H 7235, sponsored by Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter), sets the pharmacist renewal license fee at $250 biennially and the annual nonresident pharmacy location license fee at $625. The bill validates pharmacy technician licenses for two years and it validates pharmacy intern licenses for five years.
  • 2022-H 7383, sponsored by Rep. Joseph J. Solomon, Jr. (D-Dist. 22, Warwick), mandates RITBA to design a safety barrier or netting system on the Mount Hope Bridge, the Claiborne Pell Bridge, and the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge by April 1, 2022, with construction commencing no later than January 1, 2023.
  • 2022-H 7625, sponsored by Rep. Joshua J. Giraldo (D-Dist. 56, Central Falls), provides that portions of the city of Central Falls would be included within the Pawtucket Downtown Redevelopment Project.
  • 2022-H 7632, sponsored by Rep. Camille F.J. Vella-Wilkinson (D-Dist. 21, Warwick), provides that every city and town must maintain a municipal veterans' service officer and it would also authorize a $100,000 appropriation to be used for support and outreach for veterans.
On Wednesday, April 13 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the committee will hear testimony on a variety of bills, including:
  • 2022-H 7282, sponsored by Rep. Joseph M. McNamara (D-Dist. 19, Warwick, Cranston), creates a four year pilot program to provide scholarships to certified nursing assistants employed in certain high needs fields.
  • 2022-H 7337, sponsored by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett), suspends interest and penalty payments due from a taxpayer with less than 100 employees as a result of an audit conducted during a COVID emergency declaration and continuing until one year after the emergency declaration is lifted.
  • 2022-H 7342, sponsored by Rep. Leonela Felix (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket), increases the amount forwarded to Rhode Island Legal Services from court filing fees for the entry of every petition, complaint or action in the District, Superior and Family courts.
  • 2022-H 7444, sponsored by Rep. Liana Cassar (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence), increases the taxable wage upon which employees make contributions to the TDI and TCI funds and increases the maximum weeks for temporary caregivers from four to 12 weeks.
  • 2022-H 7855, sponsored by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, Narragansett, South Kingstown), repeals the exemption granted to pari mutual facilities and casinos from the smoke free workplace requirement contained in the Public Health and Workplace Safety Act.
Individuals may testify in person before the committee at the State House. Sign-up sheets are available in/outside the hearing room.
