Senate will introduce legislative package to strengthen and expand state’s child care and early childhood education system

STATE HOUSE, Providence – Rhode Island Senate leaders on Tuesday will host a news conference to announce a package of bills aimed at strengthening Rhode Island’s child care and early education system, and to dramatically accelerate the transition to universal pre-kindergarten.
The package will include a new, unified governance structure for early childhood care and education. It also would put the state on a path to achieve universal pre-k access for three- and four-year-olds by 2028.
The news conference will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, in the Senate Lounge, on the second floor of the State House. It will be live streamed on the General Assembly website.
