12/1/2021 Rep. Casimiro and Sen. DiMario collect over 425 pairs of pajamas for foster care youth
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro and Sen. Alana M. DiMario have donated over 425 pairs of pajamas to Foster Forward to be given to Rhode Island children in foster care for the holidays.

Representative Casimiro and Senator DiMario began the month-long charitable drive on November 1, securing numerous donations from the community and at the State House.  The legislators were assisted in the drive by Megan Cotter, Chair of the Exeter Democratic Town Committee.

“In the spirit of the season of giving, we hoped many Rhode Islanders would join us in helping and supporting our youth in foster care and we are very grateful to report that our calls were answered.  This time of year is especially hard for these children who have already gone through so much and Rhode Islanders truly came together to brighten their spirits and provide them with the items they need to have a good holiday season. Thank you to all those who participated and for letting the children in foster care know that they are not forgotten,” said Representative Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) and Senator DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown).

Along with the over 425 pairs of pajamas contributed, over 60 books to make night-time reading a reality, gloves and mittens, duffle bags, pillows and toys were also donated to the children.

Foster Forward will disseminate the items to foster youth in the state immediately in time for the holidays. For over 25 years, Foster Forward has advocated for and empowered children in the state’s care. For more information, please visit https://www.fosterforward.net.
