11/4/2021 Rep. Casimiro and Sen. DiMario lead drive to collect pajamas and books for foster care youth
STATE HOUSE – In anticipation of the holidays, Rep. Julie A. Casimiro and Sen. Alana M. DiMario are leading a charitable drive to collect pajamas and books for children in foster care.

Both Representative Casimiro and Senator DiMario are urging the public to participate.

“In the spirit of the season of giving, we hope many Rhode Islanders join us in helping and supporting our youth in foster care.  This time of year is especially hard for these children who have already gone through so much and we hope we can all come together to brighten their spirits and provide them with the items they need to have a good holiday season and to succeed later in life.  Thank you to all those who participate and for letting the children in foster care know that they are not forgotten,” said Representative Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) and Senator DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown).

Boxes will be set up in the sub-basement of the State House to collect new, unwrapped pajamas and books. While pajamas and books for children of all ages—from birth to teenagers are needed—there is a focus for larger sizes/older kids who are often overlooked. The effort started on Monday, November 1, and will end on Friday, November 26.

Foster Forward will receive and disseminate these items. For over 25 years, Foster Forward has advocated for and empowered children in the state’s care. For more information, please visit https://www.fosterforward.net.
