MEDIA ADVISORY: House Judiciary Committee meets on Thursday to vote on four bills
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Judiciary Committee will be meeting on Thursday, May 27 at 3 p.m. in the House Lounge of the State House to consider four bills.
The committee will vote on the following pieces of legislation:

2021-H 5979, sponsored by Rep. John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton, Portsmouth), provides that financial security is required for any motor vehicle registered or required to be registered in Rhode Island.

2021-H 6048, sponsored by Rep. Robert D. Phillips (D-Dist. 51, Woonsocket, Cumberland), vests the Traffic Tribunal with jurisdiction over the adjudication of alleged violations of the harassment of hunters, trappers and fishers law.

2021-S 0318A, sponsored by Sen. Stephen R. Archambault (D-Dist. 22, Smithfield, North Providence, Johnston), would provide for specific fines and sanctions to operators of motor vehicles who fail to exercise due care to avoid colliding with a vulnerable road user causing injury, serious injury, or death to the vulnerable road user.

2021-S 0398aa, sponsored by Sen. John P. Burke (D-Dist. 9, West Warwick), repeals the provision of law granting minors the ability to obtain a marriage license, and would require a person to be of full legal age, at least 18 years of age to obtain a marriage license.
