Anthony Giarrusso (R) was first elected to House District 30 (East Greenwich, West Greenwich) in November 2012 and is known as an outspoken advocate of smaller government, lower taxes and economic development. He was elected senior deputy minority leader by his colleagues at the start of the 2017 session, and he sits on the House Committee on Finance as well as the House Committee on Corporations.
He is the son of Leonardo and Rosa Giarrusso, born on February 5, 1962 in Vieste, Foggia, Italy. The family emigrated to the United States in 1966 and settled in Providence. Anthony has four brothers, Angelo, Giovanni (John), Matteo (Matthew) and Franco (Frank).
A graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Providence in 1980, Giarrusso, 54, received his associate’s degree from the Community College of Rhode Island in 1982 and later attended Bryant College.
Giarrusso is the president of A.G. & G Inc., a family business he owns with his brothers. The company specializes in jewelry manufacturing in Johnston and serving domestic and international clients. He is a member of the East Greenwich Republican Town Committee and has served for many years on the board of the East Greenwich Little League. He resides in East Greenwich with his wife, Janet. They are the parents of four children, Antonio, Andrea, Leonardo and James.
