Murray named to two Senate Committees
STATE HOUSE – Sen. Melissa Murray has been named to the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Committee on Special Legislation and Veterans’ Affairs by Senate President Dominick Ruggerio.
Senator Murray, a Democrat, is serving her first term in the Senate, representing District 24 in Woonsocket and North Smithfield.
The Finance Committee handles all matters relating to revenue, appropriations and taxes. The Committee on Special Legislation and Veterans’ Affairs hears legislation and matters relating to constitutional amendments, liquor laws, gaming issues, commissions, resolutions, veterans’ affairs and laws relating to domestic animals.
During her previous experience serving for five years as an at-large member of the Woonsocket City Council, Senator Murray gained relevant experience that will assist her work on both committees, including managing municipal finances and handling licensing matters.
