Sen. Cano recognizes ‘National Census Day’
STATE HOUSE – Sen. Sandra Cano (D-Dist. 8, Pawtucket) is highlighting that today, April 1, is the National Census Day and she is encouraging all to take a few minutes of their day to complete the 2020 Census.
“The upcoming Census will determine our federal funding for the next decade and it is imperative that we have an accurate count so that the proper and necessary amount of federal dollars is applied to Rhode Island’s residents. Completing the Census only takes five minutes and it can be done online, through the mail, or over the phone. It is very important that every Rhode Island resident participates and I would like to thank the Complete Count Committee for all of their hard work to ensure that Rhode Island provides an accurate count to Washington,” said Senator Cano.
“The money Rhode Island receives due to the Census goes to our schools, our healthcare, our infrastructure, and numerous other critical areas that affect Rhode Islanders on a daily basis. If we fail to provide a complete count, Rhode Island will lose significant federal money. So please, fill out the Census. The whole state is counting on you,” concluded Senator Cano.
