MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance meets tomorrow to hear and consider legislation
STATE HOUSE – The House Committee on Finance will be meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 19 at 1 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House to hear and/or consider four pieces of the legislation.
The first piece of legislation (2017-H 5842) the committee will consider is sponsored by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, South Kingstown, Narragansett) and it amends several sections relative to the eligibility and award process for projects that receive financial assistance from PACE (Property Assessment Clean Energy).
The committee will also hear and/or consider the following three bills:
· 2017-H 6076, sponsored by Rep. Arthur Handy (D-Dist. 18, Cranston), places the current Cranston police chief in a defined contribution retirement plan.
· 2017-S 1011, sponsored by Senate President Dominick J. Ruggiero (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence), requires the director of the Department of Revenue to file annual reports, beginning on January 1, 2021, with the General Assembly and make recommendations and findings concerning the financial feasibility of the motor vehicle excise tax phase-out.
· 2017-S 0462, sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Michael J. McCaffrey (D-Dist. 29, Warwick), grants instate tuition status at state operated schools to active duty and reserve members stationed in Rhode Island.
