MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Diaz to celebrate sixth anniversary of Child Care Awareness Day at State House
STATE HOUSE — Rep. Grace Diaz (D-Dist. 11, Providence), chairwoman of the Permanent Legislative Commission on Child Care (PLCCC), invites the public and media to a sixth anniversary celebration of Child Care Awareness Day Thursday, April 27, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the State House.
Each year, the commission puts together a special program to highlight various organizations in the state that work to improve the lives of children, youth and families. Representative Diaz and Committee Vice Chairwoman Sen. Elizabeth A. Crowley (D-Dist. 16, Central Falls, Pawtucket) will begin a short speaking program at 3:15 p.m. in the State Room at 2:30 p.m., which will also include various leaders in the child care industry.
This year’s program will include a keynote address by Amy O’Leary, president-elect of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and director of Strategies for Children in Boston. Child care providers, advocates, afterschool professionals, parents and members of the public are all welcome to attend.
