Hearing tomorrow on bill banning ‘conversion therapy’ for children
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee tomorrow will hear a bill prohibiting “conversion therapy” for children in Rhode Island.
The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21, at the rise of the Senate session (around 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House.
The bill (2017-S 0267), sponsored by Sen. Donna M. Nesselbush (D-Dist. 15, Pawtucket, North Providence), would prohibit licensed health care professionals from providing conversion therapy — therapy that purports to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity — to children under 18.
