Sen. Satchell applauds Lippitt Mill redevelopment
STATE HOUSE – Sen. Adam J. Satchell (D-Dist. 9, West Warwick) is applauding the recent approval by Rhode Island Housing of tax-exempt financing in the amount of $5.5 million to renovate the vacant Lippitt Mill in West Warwick. After renovation, the historic building will include 65 apartments with some being reserved for affordable housing.
“This development will restore a prominent historic landmark and hopefully create a ripple effect to revitalize the homes and businesses in West Warwick,” said Senator Satchell. “This a very exciting development for West Warwick and I am eager to see the finished results.”
The total development cost of the project is approximately $15 million, which also includes $2.1 million from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation’s Rebuild RI program. The Lippitt Mill was built in 1809 and is the second oldest textile mill in Rhode Island.
