To,
Executive Director
Rhode Island State Government Internship Program
State House – Room 8AA
Providence, RI 02903 | Letter of Recommendation |
23 April 2021
To Selection Committee:
I am writing in reference to Jon Csisar’s application to your statehouse internship program. I have known Jon for almost three years, and came to know him well I had him in my class. As Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and former chair of the Political Science Department, students often ask me to write letters of recommendation for prestigious scholarships, internships, and graduate programs. Jon ranks among the best students we have at URI and I recommend him without reservation. He has a 3.7 GPA, has a consistent record of achievement, and is a double major in Political Science and Education. He received an A in my class, which put him in the top 10%. He sets very high standards for himself, is razor sharp, and takes an interest in the people and world around him (Jon has for many years volunteer at a local food pantry). He is responsible and has management experience in his work life. He would make for a valuable intern.
As Jon’s exceptional performance at URI demonstrates, and as I know from my own experience, he favorably compares to the most gifted students that I have encountered at URI. I hope you give Jon’s application your most sincere consideration.
Sincerely,
Brian S. Krueger Associate Dean

Rhode Island State Government
82 Smith St, Providence, Rhode Island 02903
Dear Hiring Manager,
With great enthusiasm, I am writing this cover letter in anticipation of pursuing the Economics/Finance internship within the Rhode Island State Government Internship program. My well-documented history of academic success and collaborative contributions, as seen on my attached resume, illustrate my qualifications for acceptance into this distinguished program.
My resume highlights my highly motivated enthusiasm and my outside-the-box-thinking abilities, collaboration with others, and multitasking needed for this internship. Since my time at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, I tutored in the inner city with all grade levels in an after-school program teaching from Geometry to Literature. In addition, through this program, I volunteered at senior living homes and homeless shelters. I am a very hardworking and organized student who enjoys giving back to the community which I have continued through my years at Providence College in the Urban Action Program in Providence, RI. Working as a waiter at a senior living home helped me not only serve but assist the residents in case they are in trouble. Communication, teamwork, and responsibilities were all-important skills and strengths I gained hands-on through this line of work.
Working as an accounting and finance intern at Prime Automotive Group and working alongside the corporate controller and CFO on numerous projects on excel. In addition, my work in financial planning and strict work ethic will excel me at the State Department.
I am looking forward to bringing my own take to help grow the Providence community with my work at State Department. My well-rounded education in multiple study areas in business, leadership involvement on campus, and dean's list every semester make me a great asset. In addition, I will be joining the SLAM program or Student Lead Asset Management at Providence College which will give me great hands-on experience in financial modeling and analysis before the program starts next year.
I welcome the opportunity to expand upon my qualifications for the position as an Economics/Finance intern and demonstrate how my strengths will benefit the city of Providence and the state of Rhode Island, which I have been lucky to call home for the past three years. Thank you for taking the time to read my application and allowing me the opportunity to pursue an opportunity that is so close to home.
Sincerely,
Carter Stebbins
